Job Description
Role and Responsibilities:
- Managing dogs of all sizes and ages (includes but not limited to: bathing, wound care, whelping/litter mgmt., feeding, pottying, and monitoring exercise/play)
- Cleaning kennels (includes but not limited to: dusting, trash removal, bathing a dog that messed in kennel, mopping floors, cleaning whelping boxes/crates, walls, feeding stations, bowls etc)
- Yard cleanup & sanitation (indoors and outside) - includes but not limited to: anything that makes the yard safe for the dogs and keeps up a quality appearance (examples: cleaning water bowls, sanitation, filling sanitation jugs, raking rocks, filling puppy holes, fecal, vomit or urine cleanup, removing unsafe toys, bones or objects)
- Customer Service: Receiving and returning of dogs to clients, selling food or equipment
ADDITIONAL EARNING OPPORTUNITY: we have one full-time position & we offer extra hours on holiday or peak season and if the skillset is there to train dogs; we offer option to earn income training dogs for service, pet or therapy work.
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
- 16 and older (with parental consent) with the ability to commute to and from work
- Team player
- Very observant/Attention to detail - ie notice safety issues or things that need to be done, understand animal body language to avoid dog fights, observant about animal's wellness/condition or if something in environment needs to be fixed for safety.
- Be communicative, and have the ability to: do math, measure food or meds, self-monitor (ie checks and balances), only have minimal mistakes, be motivated when provided a list of tasks and complete in allotment of shift time.
- Ability to clean and sanitize with no shortcuts - an understanding of germs and need for cleanliness to keep dogs healthy and safe.
- Outgoing personality/customer service skills (interacting with clients)/ very respectful
- Extreme sensitivity to animals and the love that their owners have for them with a willingness to learn dog behavior
Preferred Skills:
- Has an interest in a career with animals (ie vet , vet tech, rescues) or has whelped puppies, been around large animals or worked a farm
- Has an understanding of dog behavior or has owned animals and been responsible for their care and safety
Entry level: based on experience, but generally starts $16 per hr. review after 1 month for $17hr. Add'l review at 3 months for further increase.
Plus upside earnings for: dog training, special projects and longevity/ performance.
